The START Gallery offers studio art classes in the WFU Art Department the opportunity to produce exhibitions featuring the work of students in those specific classes. We present between 2 to 3 class exhibitions each semester and during the summer.
To be a part of a class exhibition you must be enrolled in a studio art class that is exhibiting that semester or summer session.
Consigned works will remain with the gallery for the period of your class exhibition, and will be exhibited according the gallery’s policies. At the end of this period, you can decide to extend the consignment period to one year.
The gallery will make a reasonable effort to exhibit and promote the work during the period of consignment.
If the work is purchased the artist will receive payment (50% of purchase price, in accordance with standard gallery practice) from Wake Forest University (sales taxes apply in addition to the sales price).
At the end of the period that this agreement is in effect, the disposition of the remaining work is the artist’s responsibility (START Gallery cannot ship work).
Being exhibited as part of a class exhibition looks great on a resumé. In addition, you have the opportunity to learn more about the artist-gallery relationship and gain tangible experience with the process of exhibiting and selling your artwork.
To Become Part of a Class Exhibition
You need to be enrolled in a studio art class that is exhibiting that semester or summer session. When your class prepares for the exhibition you will be asked to fill out a gallery representation form specific to class exhibitions for each consigned piece.
