Class Exhibitions
START serves the Wake Forest Art Department directly through exhibitions featuring the collective works of students in studio art courses. These exhibitions are designed to introduce students to the artist-gallery relationship, allowing them to see their work in a legitimate gallery space and put their pieces up for sale.
Qualifications
To be a part of a class exhibition, students must be enrolled in a studio art class that is exhibiting that semester or summer session.
Responsibilities
Consigned works will remain with the gallery for the period of the class exhibition, and will be exhibited according the gallery’s policies. At the end of the exhibition students may collect their works or consign them to the gallery for a period of six months, during which the gallery will make a reasonable effort to exhibit and promote the work.
Disposition of unsold works is the responsibility of the artist. START Gallery cannot ship works.
A Note on Sales
When works are purchased, student artists receive payment in the amount of 50% of purchase price, exclusive of tax, in accordance with standard gallery practice.
