Living Landscapes

Curated by Natalie Brashear

March 3 – March 29

Living Landscapes  is an exhibition of photographs and sketches gathered by student-artists during their travels that illustrate the relevance first-hand experience has in capturing landscape through artwork. The artists showing include: Natalie Brashear, Mandy Mathias, Kristi Chan, and Hannah Padrnos. Living Landscapes  seeks to explore the question of how one represents landscape; how one distills an entire sensory experience into a single image. This project is based on research done by Natalie Brashear, who received the Lynn Johnson Travel award this past summer. She used her grant to take a backpacking trip through Yosemite National Park to explore the different views in the park that Albert Bierstadt studied and painted.
