Meaghan Steele + Leigh Anne White

Meaghan Steele graduated from Wake Forest University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Art History, with Honors. Shortly after graduating, she began working with Cristin Tierney Gallery, a contemporary art gallery located in the Chelsea arts district of New York. Steele then entered the Floater Program at Sotheby’s, the international arts auction house, and now works with their global Jewelry and Watches departments, focusing on business strategy and development. While at Sotheby’s, she has worked on major sales, including The Henry Graves Jr. Supercomplication, a mechanical pocketwatch, which sold in November 2014 at Sotheby’s Geneva for a world record auction price for any timepiece of $24M.

Leigh Anne White is an exhibit designer currently practicing at Design Dimension, Inc. in Raleigh, North Carolina. She graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art in 2011. After graduation, she attended the Corcoran School of The Arts + Design in Washington, DC, where she received her MA in Exhibition Design. Since beginning her career as an exhibit designer, Leigh Anne has designed two exhibits for Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, written the Cognitively Accessible Guidelines for the Smithsonian Institution, created countless floor plans for DC pop-up art shows, designed an 8,000 square foot children’s museum in Chapel Hill, NC, and been part of the design team at Design Dimension that has worked on over 15 exhibits in the last six months.

The 5&Under program invites recent Wake Forest Art Department alumni who are 5 years out – or less – to exhibit their work and speak with current students about their transition after graduation and developing a career in the arts. In an effort to connect students with alumni in art-related fields, we hope that this program offers our alumni unique opportunities to exhibit their work and gives students perspective into life after graduation from young and upcoming alumni connections.
