The genesis of Art 211/221’s group exhibition was Alex Oleksyn’s instruction for our class as part of his exhibition “Confined Line” at Hanes Gallery. Alex’s instruction centered on various means of exploration in drawing and further, embracing chance. Our drawings continued to develop aided by the generosity of the Museum of Anthropology and Professor Andrew Gurstelle who allowed us access to the wonderful collection as subject matter.
