The I Ching and Visual Synchronicity is an exhibition of works by students in John Pickel’s intro to digital photography class. These students were tasked with capturing photography inspired by one of sixty-four Hexagrams randomly assigned from the I Ching (book of changes), a classic Chinese divination text. By letting chance decide their parameters, they are able to practice translating abstract concepts into their final work.

The I Ching and Visual Synchronicity will be on view at stArt Gallery in Reynolda Village from October 14 – 31, 2026, with a reception on October 15 from 5-7 PM.
