From Chamba

Cami Burruss

OCTOBER 13 – OCTOBER 30, 2015

With an ACCIAC research grant, Cami Burruss studied the traditional Indian art of Pahari miniature painting under renowned artist, Vijay Sharma, in Chamba, India. During her two-month stay she created a series of paintings, compiled a handmade sketchbook, and was able to fully immerse herself in the culture of her ancestors. Her exhibition demonstrates multiple aspects of the art of miniature painting, and includes two works by her Guru (teacher). In addition to the works she has created under his tutelage, Cami’s exhibition touches on different models of the teacher/student relationship, Hindu beliefs, and Pahari painting styles and materials.
